The agency will gather travelers' arrival/departure information automatically from their electronic travel records. The agency anticipates an estimated savings of $15.5 million a year from this new system.
Because the automated I-94 will only apply to those traveling by air and sea, those who enter the country by land will still receive a paper I-94 card.
For those of you wish to retrieve your new I-94 number, you can do so at the CBP website (click here) and enter the following information:
- Your full name
- Passport Number
- Country of Issuance of Passport
- Birth Date
- Arrival Date into the U.S.
- Visa Type
The website will search their system for your information and your I-94 card with status expiration date will be displayed on a printable screen.
